Looking into a field based around animals such as dogs, live stock, and/ or wildlife, and I'm a bit stuck as to which to pursue.
Anybody have some insight on the professions of putting dogs, cows, and giraffes back together?
>How much does it suck trying to become a vet?
>Vet tech?
>Livestock?
>Exotic?
I just wanna be around animals all day but still have some sense of free time to work on my farm.
Just a quick bump, and I know this'll get some flack considering what kind of board /an/ is, but what kind of job would I go after to help change the social perceptions on pitbulls?
Maybe a shelter that specializes in homing pits?
I like the thought of it.
also quints btw

i work with cows. they break all the time.
it takes a lot to be a vet though, at least for livestock, after the years of school you will basically be popping cysts, burning horns, and checking cow genitals all day.

There's an organisation in Austin called love-a-bull. I'm not sure how large it is or how common these sorts of groups are but they do exist

What was your path through school to land you with cows, man?
What's the pay like? Do you enjoy the work?

i am currently in work placement, so i do not earn a whole lot of money (around 35K usd last year i think), and i am not sure how the education system works around the world, but where i live you the education is 3,5 years long (14 months of school, 28 months of work placement) not until then you can call yourself a farmer. but i mainly take care of the cattle, feed them and maintain equipment. and of course i love my work :)

Study to become a vet. Unless you just want to be another shelter worker who was too stupid to make it through vet school.

My personal goal in life is to become a professional trainer and combine my love of pitties with my job. They're an extremely athletic breed and might be well suited for a number of jobs. Service dogs, therapy dogs, search and rescue.
Becoming a trainer and training pitbulls for work like that is probably the best way to help the breed.

I'm looking to improve the perception of pits, man. While I'd make bank if I survive the decade of school, I don't believe it'd translate into my goals.

What schooling did you specifically take over those 14 months, man?
I think work placement exists around here but under a different name.
35k is still more than almost all vet tech salaries, so that's a good start, yo.

a trade school, specific for farming.
i know that some countries you don't need an education to be a farmer, but here you do, well most of europe at least.

Do you have a "title", so to speak, like livestock technician or anything of the sort?
