It's the middle of the night and my carbon monoxide sensor started going off. I don't know if it was because of low battery or if it's something serious. I was working with an air compressor probably 5-10 hours ago if that has any correlation. I don't know if I'm feeling symptoms or if I'm just paranoid and tricking myself into feeling symptoms. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? I don't feel like calling the police or anything unless I know for sure something is up.

Two very different suggestions. I have a fan and my window open so I might just chill unless I feel some serious symptoms

Unplug / remove batteries from the CO detector. Reactivate the detector in the same location, see if it goes off.
Leave the house either way, open all the windows. Use your judgement, but it might be a good idea to call some place with professional equipment if you don't know what the source might be and how to fix it.
Bear in mind, CO irreversibly binds to hemoglobin and renders it useless until it's the cell is destroyed as part of your natural red blood cell turnover. By the time your start experiencing symptoms your time of usable consciousness might be fairly low.
Get out after trying the first thing I mentioned. You have no way to know its concentration or its source.
