I'm working on getting my life together. I just got a room, a facebook, and I'm realizing that I'm not the type who doesn't get employed.
However, I've had trouble finding friends who aren't more troubled than me, friends who don't bring drama into my life. I mean, I found a few, but we are not close. Should I just go it alone and wait until I'm in school or something to make close friends or a girlfriend?

I assume you're in your 20s.
If so, it's hard to make new friends. Social groups are usually already made and people are plain-and-simply busy.
Join a few social clubs (like rec sports leagues, fitness classes, book clubs, shit like that). It will offer repeated, unplanned social interactions with the same people, which offers the best odds of making new friendships.

an acquaintance of mine is in drama club at the community college, and seems to have his hands full with friends
maybe just one or two of those clubs would supply me with friends. good advice. thanks.
I guess I was also looking for reassurance that I'm not fucked or doomed to be alone. my best friend and girlfriend recently got too whacky for me to handle.
