I have a timberland polyester jacket, and for some reason the cuffs have gotten a funny smell. Not sure how to describe it...really sharp, kind of musky, doesn't smell nice.

It STILL smells that way even after being washed in the washing machine. And ONLY the cuffs. The rest of the jacket is fine.

I tried washing the cuffs with hand soap, but that didn't seem to have any lasting effect. Water also makes it smell worse.

Does anyone have any idea what has happened to the jacket to make it smell and how to get rid of the smell?

Try taking it to the cleaners and letting them know what's up. I had a jacket like this before and it was the filling on the inside that made it smell terrible.

It was fine until it got wet, then it was never the same. As soon as any scent that covered the smell was gone, it smelled similar to what you're describing.

hmm, but how can i smell the filling through the layer of polyester?

what did the cleaners do to get rid of the smell? just threw into their washing machine for a dry clean?

i poured boiling hot water onto it with some baking soda, hope that fixes it.
