Not sure if anyone here knows anything about how the cartoon industry works but I thought I'd ask.

I would love to do both and they agreed to pay me for the storyboards I do for the first ep but I'm not entirely sure how the business part of this works out.
Does it seem dickish to ask to be paid for the storyboards of the 1 episode they need if they're also offering me an art director position?
Also, what kind of agreement should I write up with what kind of clauses for a situation like this? Should I make a contract just asking to be paid for the storyboards? Or should it include the art director agreement?
typically, and I'm no expert, you'll wait for some kind of contract if the network likes your stuff, and it's usually fixed or on a rolling basis, like how disney does things (if you remember gravity falls was a similar ordeal to this)
I'm surprised they're taking your show on with you as just a storyboarder and not at least one of a small dept. of writers, overall you'd probably get a commission pay for your first job with them since it's essentially playing chance with a non guarantee of anything in the long run, you feel?

Soo... I should just send them a contract to get paid to storyboard the 1 episode for the pitch for now? And if it's greenlit I'll deal with a different agreement with the company?

I should also add that I have no idea what the character designs are like which is why they would ask for a storyboarder before a concept artist/character designer. Unless they assume I would come up with the designs while storyboarding..?
