Hey /adv/

Long story short, I think I have a stomach ulcer and was in severe stomach pain after eating cereal with milk. I went to the ER and underwent triage but left before being seen by a doctor.

They did blood work and a urine analysis. I did not ride an ambulance there. It was a public hospital. I do have health insurance.

How much am I likely looking at paying for the visit to the ER? I'm a college student and limited on funds. The hospital won't let me know right now because it all needs to be processed first.

You prob wont pay anything tonight, but maybe $800 - $1500+ depending on where in USA, in a bill sent in mail

show them your INS card, and you pay copay - maybe $200 - check your plan and find out

Your insurance company would know. Depends on whether or not you were "out of network" and how high your deductible is. Out of pocket I bet it's like $2000 or less, but with insurance I don't think you'll be paying that much. Unless your insurance sucks, which is somewhat common in this bizarro country.

Most emergency rooms take your insurance info before they treat you. They may send the bill directly to your insurance, who will pay all but the co-pay.
