Hi. I am coming from Japan back to EU. I will touch in Turkey first; then land in Italy although I am from Austria. My passport is stapled with invoices from Japanese retailers because I was buying tax free.

Will I have to pay any additional tax once I come to Italy? Can I avoid it? What if I get rid of all these invoices once I land in Turkey?

Wut? Nothing but immigration-related stamps or slips should be in your passport.

Fucking hot.

Seriously, what the fuck are you talking about? Why the fuck would you have to pay tax on things you've already bought, after leaving the country? You claim your tax refund before you leave.

And why the fuck did you staple the invoices in your passport?

Most likely not, it might depend on what goods are you talking about. There is limit on tax free alcohol/cigarettes and possibly some other stuff.

In some parts of EU, Value added taxes apply.

No, the reason they staple those invoices is so they can make sure you still have those items with you when you leave Japan. It's the Japanese tax that you're skipping out on. You're fine as long as any goods you bought don't exceed the amount you're able to bring home tax free.

I just went to Japan myself and found it super weird when they stapled that shit into my passport. It'll be fine.
