How do I regain empathy fir strangers? Because now whenever I hear about shootings, or kids getting molested, I don't care as much anymore. I don't feel the outrage everyone else has. Is that bad?

Basically what anon said. At this point I'm so desensitised, I stopped giving a shit completely.
I have the opposite problem, where I've become so overwhelmed by all the horrible shit happening that I now cry pretty much whenever I hear of a tragedy. My empathy's gone through the fucking roof.
I think having a child of my own is what did it for me. But if you're not interested in reproducing anytime soon, you could try thinking of all the family members left devastated. Or just take a break from the news and come back to it later, when you're not so desensitized.
