So you know that you imagine impossible situations never happen?
Then just remind yourself this is another one of the imaginary situations
Most people are good people
If you haven't socialized in a long time then it becomes easy to be scared to get back out. Force yourself to go out more and you should get over it. If you don't then see a shrink about it because it could be early stages of something serious.
