Hey /adv/. Sorry to be a bother, but are any of you fishermen? In a few days, I'm about to go on a trip with my family down to the shore at montauk, long island, and we were thinking of doing shore fishing or fishing from one of the piers/rock formations. However, the only equipment I have is suited for freshwater.

Are there any kind of strategies I can use or equipment I should buy without having to actually go out and buy a saltwater rod?

You can use freshwater tackle in salt water. Just rinse everything off after you get done.

I mostly freshwater fish in lakes and river but occasionally I'll go bay fishing and I use the same rig. Only difference is I usually use a different reel with a higher test line for bay fishing.

You're better off wading out past the surf. You aren't going to catch anything there, and you shouldn't need much weight either.
