You know, even if this annoys me too, sometimes i don't answer right away, not even to look busy or whatever, but just because sometimes i'm too lazy to be "stuck" in a conversation and having to constantly come up with good replies, even if that's someone i really like - especially if that's someone i really like, actually. Because i know i'll have to try to be consistently interesting and that's quickly exhausting for the introvert i am
Now i'm completely projecting and i'm not saying the girl in OP is into him, because i just don't know, but what i'm saying is you don't always take time to answer just because you don't care
