Need help Pronto with my math...

/wsr/ is no help.

Did I get the following problems correct?

Find the value of each polynomial when x = 3

-3x squared + 7 my answer was -2

And the next is 5x squared + 4x - 20.

My answer was 217...

C'mon gais. I've got an exam this thursday. Don't let me down...

Also, how do I do these?

Solve for x: 7 (x -2) = 9x - 6

I'm probably doing it incorrectly. But I get it to 7x - 14 = 9x -6

I combine like terms and it becomes:

63x - 8

What do I do now or where did I go wrong?
>>
Isn't it past your bedtime?
-20
37
-4

I have no idea how you even approached the answers you got.
>>
>>17202734
No, apparently it isn't. Got a better explanation cause I have no idea how you approached the answers you got.

For 5x squared 2 + 4x - 20

I multiplied 5 x 3 for 15, then multiplied 15 x 15 for 225 then multiplied 4 × 3 for 12. So it became 225 + 12 - 20.

Then it became 237 - 20 for 217

an exam? they have exams in 6th grade now?
>>
Where did I go wrong?
>>
>>17202753
Apparently so....

I thought this was the advice forum? I'm asking for advice.

Wsr is no help....
>>
>>17202747
>I multiplied 5 x 3 for 15,
Nope
It's 5(x)^2
Not (5x)^2
5(3)^2 = 5(9) = 45

You have an entire week before your 5th grade math test. Go ask your teacher for help.

Learn the order of operations. PEMDAS.
Penises (parentheses)
Entering (exponents)
Michael's (or any name of someone you know that starts with M) (multiplaction)
Dad's (division)
Anal (addition)
Sphincter (subtraction)

That's how I remember it.

I'm gonna give you a complete explanation before you get banned for being underage. Better look up how to ban evade, son.

-3(x^2) + 7
-3(3^2) + 7
-3(9) + 7
-27 + 7
-20

5(x^2) + 4x - 20
5(3^2) + 4(3) - 20
5(9) + 4(3) - 20
45 + 12 - 20
37

7(x - 2) = 9x - 6
Distribute, because (x - 2) isn't a usable term. It's not usable because the other side doesn't have (x - 2) unless you do dumb shit, and doing dumb shit is dumb and unnecessary.
7x - 14 = 9x - 6
x on one side, non-x on the other.
7x = 9x + 8
-2x = 8
x wants to be alone because x is a fag. Get rid of everything that isn't x.
-x = 4
x = -4

That's the video I followed ...

And I'm too autistic to raise my hand in class.
>>
First you add -3x to the recipical of the fraction the odd number produces when divided by .06, +7 is rounded to the nearest one, so your answer is 81.45 your incorect maam
>>
>>17202712
-3 (3)^2 +7
-3 (9) +7
-27+7
-20

5(3)^2 +4(3) -20
5(9) + 12 - 20
45 + 12 - 20
57-20
37

7(x -2) = 9x - 6
7x -14 = 9x -6
group like terms by removing from one side of the equation
7x -14 + 14 = 9x -6 + 14
7x= 9x +8
7x -9x = 9x -9x +8
-2x = 8
-2x/2 = 8/2
Simplify
-× = 4
Get rid of negative x
x=-4

And I'm not underage... I'm 26... just never learned math properly.
>>
>>17202795
fucking hell
Alright. Do you have any other similar problems? Type it here, and work out every step. Explain why you did it in the context of the video you posted.
>>
What is 5+ 27
I get confused with the sevens
>>
>>17202825
Autism abounds or just shit troll
>>
>>17202794
Actually... that first one was not squared. I wrote it incorrectly

The problem was actually -3x + 7
>>
>>17202825
This isn't me....
>>
Awww snap, i cant easre that already i wrote it with pen
>>
>>17202794
Okay, I see where I went wrong....
>>
Okay, how do I do this one?

3 (5x - 6) + 9= 13x + 7
>>
>>17202923

3 (5x - 6) + 9= 13x + 7
Multiple through
15x - 18 +9 =13x +7
Simplify
15x -9 = 13x +7
Group like terms by performing opposite operations
15x -9 +9 = 13x +7+9
15x= 13x +16
15x-13x=13x-13x +16
2x = 16
Simplify and put in terms of x
2x/2 = 16/2
X=8
>>
Am I writing this correctly? It's asking me to write this in number form : five times a number subtracted from forty is the same as three times the number : 5x - 40 = 3x
>>
Bump it bump....
>>
>>17203886
Yes.
>>
>>17203886
Wouldn't "subtracted from" imply 40 comes before the 5x? Maybe it's just worded awkwardly.
>>
>>17203941
Okay, now how do I solve it...?

Okay, so how do I solve for x in that problem? Just when I think I have it, I don't...

5x - 40 = 3×
>>
>>17203958
Dunno...

Any half on previous post?
>>
>>>>17203961
I did it two different ways for you and left the last step unsolved but the answer is x=20, you also don't need the + symbol in the answer but I left it for clarity.

If you get lost let us know which step you don't understand

Forgot the image.
>>
>>17204065
Okay... the last step was just simplifying...

In the first method, I thought you could only do opposites? So since there is a minus sign, I figured you had to add either 3x or 5x to both sides...?

I did that but then didn't know what to do with the 40.

I also forgot that you could move numbers to the other side like you did in method 2.
>>
>>17204210
if there's no minus before the 5x or 3x just pretend there's a + there since it's a positive number
>>
>>17202712
Please don't continue maths
>>
Okay... one more for now...

How do I do this one? It has decimals and parentheses. Solve for x

12.5x + (-7.2x) = -21.2
And did I get this one correct?

5.1x = -15.3 ------- my answer is x = -3

Because there is only one number after the decimal, I multiplied them by 10 and it became: 510x = -1530

Then I divided both sides by 510, leaving the x alone on the left side and -3 on the right side.

>>17204277
sorry for the late response,
for the first one the parenthesis are only used for readability, you're going to subtract 7.2x from 12.5x since you're adding a negative.
That leaves you with 5.3x = -21.2 which you know how to solve.

yes the second one is correct, you could also just divide -15.3 by 5.1 with a calculator to save yourself a step since your goal is only to isolate x.
