I know /cgl/ contains more sociable people due to the fact it's inherent in the subject.
As a guy who started browsing adv and r9k at the same time, i can without a doubt say that there are more socially competent people and also girls in general on this board.
This board is 90% relationship related, so go figure.
4chan as a whole? Other than being geeks, I doubt there's much difference overall. Maybe a higher penchant for Japanese mass media in its various and sundry forms. But geekdom is diverse, and we fit within it.
Get to individual boards, though, and things start getting more different. Most of the differences are fairly intuitive given the board's theme: /d/ gets the fetishists, /v/ gets the gamers, /x/ gets the conspiracy/paranormal folks, and so on. One would think that /pol/ would attract politics geeks from all sides of the spectrum; it has become a stronghold for insane factions that don't even belong on the political spectrum, but I suppose they're still politics geeks in their own way.
Some boards get stranger, though. Although the regulars of /adv/ tend to have somewhat more life experience and social acumen, the board actively solicits and depends on people who are not that type. I'm not sure anyone knows how or why /r9k/ became a stronghold for the bitter unfuckables, as there is nothing in the board's theme to suggest that. And then there is /b/.

However, I am extremely introverted, and have trouble making and keeping friends. Because people make me nervous and I'm either too shy or too blunt and bitchy around them.
I've been on 4chan since before the mudkip meme. I'm a 25 year old guy covered face-to-toe in tattoos. I'm a professional concept artist/painter that works from home.
I hate /b/ because it's all just 17 year olds looking for porn. there was a time when /r9k/ was full of hilarious and great stories, games- as well as intellectual conversations.
This board was made to prevent what the robot board is now; didn't work- because the people who lurk here are problem solvers. A lot are very interested in psychology too which is obviously inherent.
