I don't usually go on /adv/ but I really need a reason to live. I'd had depression for a long time now and my coping methods have run empty. It's gotten really bad. I'm ready to jump off the mountain near my house tomorrow morning. I've tried medication and therapy but I feel like I blew my money on someone telling me what I already know. I use to do new things just to cover up those feelings and it worked until I finally stopped enjoying life in general.

medication can take a while to work.

Maybe you can find a sense of duty.
That's what's kept me going after losing everything else.
Duty to other people, to those left behind, to the world in general.

I will second this. It is very odd that living for others makes you feel the worth of your own life more, but it does.
