>Imagine terrible things happening to me all the time.(Stuff like my family dying, my gf dying, becoming paralyzed, etc)
>It feels as if a melancholy mood is my natural state of mind. It almost feels comforting
>Whenever my work load increases slightly above my comfort zone, I freak out and can't motivate myself to do anything
>I feel incapable doing anything to my fullest ability
Is this depression?
>>
You actually just described some of the specific symptoms of a very specific mental disorder. You may need professional help dealing with this.

A few things I forgot to add

I'm curious too, please someone inform me because I legitimately believe I have the same thing going on. Mostly every day I feel like in this super shit mood but it's become so normal that if it's not there I don't feel like myself. Most of the time I imagine myself dying and it almost feels sweet to me. At 21 years old or really even ever this isn't a normal thing. I'm pretty sure I have bipolar depression as well since it does run on one side of my family and after looking up the symptoms it really seems like it. It hits about ever three to five weeks and will stay for about one or two. If anyone says anything that I feel like they are disappointed in me then it basically just destroys everything that was left for happiness and everything I was clinging to keep my shit together.

is it dysthemia?

from the description it sounds like it.

Go to a psychiatrist OP. Not MDD (major depressive disorder), but a problem that needs to be fixed nonetheless.
Dysthymia can certainly cause this, as can other mood disorders.

Yep you need to go to a shrink too, all bipolar conditions (incl BP depression) are almost always treated with medications, which work quite well for most people.

Other guy here, not OP. I'm honestly too stubborn to go to one. I've thought about it plenty of times but always just said to get a straw and suck it the fuck up. So far it has worked, but shit seems to be getting worse gradually. I've noticed being in the sun a lot tends to hep, but I only assume because of vitamin D absorption.
