I wouldn't use a blanket you really care about.

Even if you wash it regularly there will still be a difference. And also washing it a lot will wear down your favorite blankey so be careful

I just keep a washcloth near my bed and use that, its not a big deal to wash regularly and I don't really care if it gets a bit rougher from being constantly washed.
