I had an appointment with an ENT specialist today to discuss throat surgery I need and the guy told me that I should consider taking the medicine entrance exam. He's a professor of surgery at a local university. How seriously should I take his advice? How often do doctors encourage other people to enter the field? I've been out of college a few years but my marks are above the threshold I need to take the exam, but I always just assumed I wasn't competitive or dedicated enough for it.
