Of the 5-6 women I have had extended conversation with in the last year, none of them struck me as particularly rude. One is one of my closest friends now.
I am in a position of being at an all male school in the last year (18, chill) so admittedly I dont have a good view since issues at home and with exams have distracted me from socialising as much as i would like.
Is reality as I think it is or am I dead wrong?

They're both wrong. Reality is more nuanced than "all women" this or "all men" that.
Anyone who speaks in absolutes like that is copping out, hard. Its easier to make the opposite gender the enemy than it is to look inwards and reevaluate yourself.

My personal experience is that women are by and large more extroverted and empathetic than men, and this is most evident at the low extreme of introversion and high extreme of empathy.
All statistics I've seen support this, so I have no reason to believe otherwise.

Good. Generally the only universal differences i've encountered are slight, and mainly in the 2 factors above: women are less likely to appreciate introverted activities and more likely to appreciate emotional expressions (such as smiling, appropriate touching, proper eye contact, etc).
