Mostly. It's a lot of psychological baggage that a lot of people can't deal with, especially In adulthood. I guess if I truly cared about the person I'd try to get them the help they need, but unfortunately if it wasn't enough I'd have to leave them for my own wellbeing

Depends on what kind of self harm it is and where it stems from. If she did/does it out of mental illness I'll actually be more attracted to her, but if she just does it for attention or to maintain some image of herself its definitely a dealbreaker.

This, I knew a girl with bipolar who cut herself and I asked her about it. She said that she felt a pain inside herself that she likened to a balloon with spikes on it that would slowly expand until it consumed her whole being and all she could feel was pain. Cutting was a way of removing that existential pain by replacing it with physical pain which made her feel a sense of control over her mental illness.
Though she later stopped cutting saying that her desire to replace pain was weakness and indulgence of mental illness, so who knows.

Not only does it not disqualify, but I'm into it, as long as it's reasonably small potatoes. I like blood and bruises and minor pain both to give and to recieve. I stopped looking for pix of cutters on 4chan for a reason, though. I like to imagine that what I've seen was just really amazing horror makeup effects, keeps me sane. I personally used to cut, but I feel like it was just teen angst when I look back at it. I've been to a psychologist/therapist before a few times because a family member wanted me to, but everything checked out okay.
I've been in a stable, committed relationship for going on five years now.
So I can confirm that you shouldn't disqualify EVERY girl who has cut before, that's the gist of my passage here.

If she can accept my being a junkie, I can try to accept self harm. I mean former self harm would be a total nonissue, I've self harmed in the past myself. But current self harm would make me feel kind of bad.
And yes obviously it's a sign of poor mental health, but I'm fine with that, as I'm totally fucked. If I was a girl, I'm sure I would've cut more than I did. And I guess my self harm isn't even that insignificant. My left shoulder is covered in scars from lighter burns, and my left thigh has a bunch of light scars from cutting.

If we're just hooking up? No big deal. If we're talking about a relationship, though, I've got a 3 year remission policy. Active self harm means drama I simply do not have the stomach for at my age.
