So what do people do after college? Specifically, what do people do after college if they've majored in ecology and evolutionary biology? Has anyone here done field/lab research jobs where they traveled? If so, were you paid? If you weren't paid, did they at least cover travel expenses as well as room and board?

Do whatever makes you happy. A lot of people don't stick to the industry they have studied in.
I have a diploma in photography and pretty early on realised it was pointless for the industry. I work full as a service coordinator, which doesn't require any specific certification..
