What should a highschool student do if he has a problem ( mentally) that he should've gotten squared away months ago, but he focused on schoolwork and his problem progressed to the point where he could end up ruining his future because of it? ( He also loses a ton of sleep thinking about it)

it does need to be its the only way truly preventive measures can take place to make sure you never ruin your life and other peoples. Look if you have not done anything the more you keep it isolated and untreated the more probable you will end up doing it. You best tell the therapist if your spending money do it to tackle the main issue at once. Maybe even read the fist 4 books of the new testament

Like OP I had thoughts on suicide too only because I'm middle aged yet working at McDonald's with no sign of a better future. It's depressing.
Anyway OP you are still young and you can afford therapy which is way better than me. If you haven't committed a crime yet then I suggest talking to your therapist about this problem.
