How do I deal with the fact that nothing I do will be of any great importance
the same way everyone else does, temporary distractions like alcohol, socialization, hobbies to help you momentarily forget the crushing reality of human mortality
Do something about it. Stop being a fucking loser by always asking and waiting. Do it. You don't need to change the world, but you can change yourself, you fucking idiot. Learn to animate. Start making music. Do something. Stop being a fucking loser when you have as much opportunity as you do.
I became a selftaught animator and developed a career and living from using a shitty laptop that could barely run Flash.

One day the Sun will die and this planet will cease to support life.
What will matter then?
Be nice to people, and go out of your way to do so.
Help a woman with getting her cluncky ass baby stroller down the stairs. Volunteer for soup kitchens. Pay for someone's lunch that you don't know.
It doesn't really change the world, but it may make all the difference to that individual, if not for a day, and it gives you perspective.
