Anyone here in the National Guard? Saw an opening for an IT position and was considering joining once I graduate college. What can I expect if I join?

This, I've heard national guard get deployed pretty often though.
Would deployment necessarily mean fighting? Especially if I'm just there doing computer work?
I'm at this internal conflict of wanting to serve my country but don't really feel like killing or being killed.

Obviously if wherever I'm stationed is under attack, I'll fight. I just don't want to sign up for an IT job for the Guard and spend most of my time on a battlefield
