I've been friends with a person for over ten years. I don't wish to be friends anymore. How do I go about this? Is it really as simple as blocking them on social media/etc and leaving it at that?
provide some closure if they want to stay friends
tell them exactly how you feel about whats bothering you and then if theyre mature you both move on
Just be real with them...Tell him/her how you feel. Basically say "fuck off" in a polite manner

I've tried to say 'Hey, I can't do this, it's not healthy and I'm not feeling good about the whole thing' before and I always get talked out of it somehow. The only time we have an actual conversation is when an argument starts. Other than that it's pretty much just radio silence.
