I don't know what it is about betas and wanting to somehow skip having friends and go straight to hiding out forever with some perfect shy qt in a cave with Internet, but it's unrealistic and the cycle of disappointment is going to continue for you.

I actually have no problem finding friends. In fact I have like a dozen, of which I would point out 6 or 7 as close. It is just that I could see myself with none of my friends in that way, and that I "exhausted my sources" if you will.

Yeah. There's to a of different places where people make friends here. I'm not sure about your interests but people share contact information because they want people with common interests. So if you like vidya the steam friends threads may be nice. (though they're kinda gay) you find those on /v/ or /r9k/ in my experience. /vg/ generals often look for friends too.
