Is there a way to counter someone when they make fun of you or try to put you down without sounding dumb? I usually laugh awkwardly or don't say anything but I feel I could be better and wittier

so you might need to sit down and think out something clever about that person that can be used. whats their flaw? whats their weakness?

Or you truly don't care about it and laugh with it or make it even bigger.
For example, I'm bald but I do well with girls anyway. When a guy is trying to take me down, he usually makes fun of my lack of hair. I reply with something in the lines of "yeah, god thought it was too easy for me so he made it a bit harder".
