Soo I need some pointers on birth control and the real pros and cons, cause my gf and I want to move to unprotected sex eventually and we've heard mixed reviews on birth control pills. Whats the best way to go about having unprotected sex without getting prego? We're both clean so std isnt the main concern. Basically we're stalling on getting birth control cause we've heard some bad side effects and whatnot.

Anything with hormones has the possibility of not reacting to her system well. Side effects vary from person to person.

Pills aren't a good choice for a lot of people, since you have to remember to take it daily, and the same time every day. Antibiotics also get in the way of effectiveness.

The implant and the shot are not particularly recommended as they have long term side effects that aren't pleasant. Implant migration and bone density loss, respectively.

Google can help you with the rest.

OP please don't come to /adv/ for birth control questions. I always see cringe-worthy misinformation.

Just read all of this

http://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/unintendedpregnancy/pdf/contraceptive_methods_508.pdf

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control
http://m.scarleteen.com/article/sexual_health/the_buddy_system_effectiveness_rates_for_backing_up_your_birth_control_with_a_

And talk to a professional.

Yes, was on the shot for 3 years. Had the nice upside of no periods, but I got enough calcium for it to not be a big deal.

The implant doesn't run the risk of migration or bone density loss. Bone density loss is a risk only with the Depo Provera shot. Migration is a risk with IUDs. When something goes wrong with an implant, it's usually an infection from the insertion.
