Grammar advice

Hey, I am writing a paper and I came across this term here http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/mouse-over-sth

I wanna use it in a sentence. I am just a bit puzzled as to how to form progressive or past tense of this phrasal verb:

1. Mouse overing & moused overed (e.g. "The item doesn't react to mouse overing. / There is no reaction when mouse overed.")

OR

2. Mousing over & moused over (e.g. "The item doesn't react to mousing over. / There is no reaction when moused over.")

(I THINK the second... but especially the word "mousing" sounds so stupid :D)

thx

Since this is probably the only kind of advice I can help with around here, I can tell you that #2 is the correct form.

2 is better, but since 'mouse over' is not a common phrase, it might be better to translate it into something like "when a mouse is passed or hovered over it"
