Bought a headset, and the mic works (tested with my phone and laptop) but my PC won't pick up sound from it. It shows up in device manager and the sound panel, but no matter how loud I shout into it, it won't actually record anything. The little gray bars you see in the top-right window will light up when I twist the connector around in the microphone port, but when I record while doing that it doesn't produce any static that I can hear in the recording. How do I fix it?

OP here, in the shuffling of audio jacks I forgot to plug my speakers back in; the microphone WILL record static when I twist it around in the port.
