It's official. I am now legally autistic Only socially though, so it's straight up Asperger's symptom-wise, but it's now a part of ASD.

Should I start disclosing this on job applications where it takes the "voluntary" info? On the one hand it's saying I'm disabled, but on the other, I bomb interviews left and right and maybe documenting it means I can claim discrimination if something goes wrong.

What do I do now, both in applying for jobs and overall?
>>
Yeah, because what employer WOULDN'T want someone who's socially inept, right? You can't claim discrimination, they're just going to say that you were shit at interviews, which you were.
>>
Op were you officially diagnosed by a doctor?
>>
Word to the wise: Don't disclose disabilities until after you get the job.

That's what laws are for, though I wouldn't put it past employers to dodge them.

My psychologist. Now before you say "get a real doctor/physician to do it", I don't think there is a physiological way to test for disorder-caused social deficit.

I'm realizing that at this point.

The laws aren't for people to bully employers into getting jobs either. The average Joe isn't protected against everything at the expense of the employer. Employers are still allowed to decline people based on their interview performance.

You should start trying to learn social skills. A lot of places have social skills workshops for people with high-functioning autism; see if you can find one in your area.

Other than that usually HFA/AS isn't a big problem.

Na bro, I get it. I've seen a psychologist for about 20 years for my ADHD. I need a medication that is a bit uncommon, and I need a new script for it each time I need a refil.
Anyway, it was my psychologist who supported me (and believed me) when I said I thought I had SID (sensory integration disorder) and aspergers.

Am I SoL then? I actually want to work instead of trying to go for SSDI. Somehow my pride wouldn't let me do the latter.

I'm in a therapy group now, though it's not really a "workshop". I'll have to look into what my university has.

Thanks for the support.
