I got laid off last July and I purposely didn't look for work because I was finishing the last semester of my undergrad and took two other 500 level classes to put myself in a good position for grad school.
I have had friends tell me this makes me look lazy and I need to spin it somehow. What do you guys think?

being unemployed for a long period of time does work against you.
but you were in enrolled in school. you can show proof of that if they ever ask for it. it won't count against you.
if you're unemployed and doing fuck all for 6-12+ months then yeah, it's a red flag for recruiters.
