My dream job since I was 12 (I'm now 24) has always been commercial airline pilot.

My only worry is that, now I'm with my dream girl and we're going to be married soon. How long will I be away from my family on a regular basis? Is it hard to make a life like that work?

You'll basically be losing half of every week. That definitely can be tough. Also bear in mind that it's incredibly difficult to climb the ranks these days. Young pilots end up taking jobs in like Indonesia and shit just to get experience and log hours. That's 100% away time for years.
