I require assistance with my resume. I am graduating next year and I'm beginning to write up a new resume. I am comfortable in being able to 'sell' myself on paper however I need a bit of help with the formatting.
Most of the Microsoft Word Resume Templates seem too bloated in my opinion but considering I've never read anyone else' resume I have nothing to really go on.
I was considering designing my own simple resume with all the basics such as:
-contact details
-career goal
-education
-work experience
-references
-interests
Is there anything I else I should be adding?
What is the preferred structure for a resume?E.g. does the work experience precede the education section or vice versa?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
2 pages, max.
Contact details at the top, include citizenship status too. Make 'career goals' a personal statement instead - just a short paragraph about what you're looking for. Then skills, education and work history (can be the other way around, depends on which formats better), then achievements, and references. Interests is pretty irrelevant unless they actually have something to do with the job. Also always tweak your resume to suit whatever job you're applying for
