how can I really clean my carpet?
It's not stained or anything, but it's kinda funky and I think it's what makes my bedroom smell gross
Of course I've vacuumed it, and I've used those baking soda carpet powders (I know they're bad for my vacuum), but it's still not really fresh
Short of renting one of those rug doctor things you see in the grocery store, What can I do?
Get some of those enzyme cleaners used for urine and such; you can find them at the pet store. Spray them on the carpet, then cover with a WARM, damp paper towl. Let sit for 24 hours.
You may want to look over your carpet with a blacklight, to see if there are any particularly bad stains from bodily fluids or anything. Once again, a pet store should carry one of these.

dont fuck with rug doctor. go to home depot or lowes and rent one of the bissel steam cleaners. i bought a house recently that had extremely funky carpet and that took proper care of it.
