Some places, like certain workplaces for instance, don't allow phones. That's why a watch can be necessary.

Wear it however is comfortable and works for you OP. For instance, I wear gloves at work, so I have my watch further up my forearm rather than tucking it under the glove because it's just more comfortable like that, and means I can look at the time without faffing around with the glove.

I always wear a watch. They're much more handy when you frequently need to watch the time.
