An pretty close friend of mine (she probably initiated conversation more than I did) stopped starting conversations with me a few weeks ago and outright ignored me a few days ago (last I tried to contact her).

What should I do? Wait a while and contact her again, or just leave her alone and be like pic related unless she goes out of her way to reach out to me?

You ask outright what's the problem. Ask her to be honest because you're concerned. I don't know you or your friend but it might be she'd like you to initiate conversation more often. Doing all the work all the time sucks and is discouraging so she could have decided to cut contact for a while or even permanently.

Of course the above is all assumption. There are many other reasons that come to mind but you won't know for sure which one unless you ask.

Not sure why she'd ignore me in that case. Granted, it was Christmas eve and towards the evening, so she might have had dinner/mass (she's from a fairly traditional Portuguese family).

What I don't want to happen is what I've done in the past: an otherwise good friend is busy or can't respond, I freak out and get all "WHERE ARE YOU M8 WTF HAPPENED AM I BEING AN ASS?" and it gets off putting and the think I'm too needy so they distance themselves.

Should I just try contacting her a few more times at reasonable intervals, and if she doesn't seem to care use that as the measure that she's not worth keeping around?
