My friend from middle/high school is really quite poor. I never really noticed it then, but I went over to his place today(we rarely hung there when we were in school) and the place is seriously horrible...he used to walk around with holes in his clothes at school, and the house is just as bad. What can I do? We used to be in a group of best friends back then, but I don't know if I can consider him that now.. I don't know what to do......
Unless he asks for help with something, you do nothing. The fact that he's poor doesn't mean he considers himself a charity case. You don't have to feel sorry for him as he seems to have lived a normal life so far. If he needs your help, he'll ask. Otherwise, you'll just humiliate him if you start giving him hand me downs.
