Athletes stop being good after 30 because they lose their motivation to train as much as they did before. To stay on top at any global sport you'll need much more work than the average work week is. It isn't really that motivating to torture yourself when you've got enough money to be set for the rest of your life.
Then there are cases like >>16478656 and Jaromir Jagr. They are fucking beasts and running circles around guys that are 20 years younger than they are. The reason they can do it is that they still train just as hard or even harder than they did while they were 20. They don't play for the money or fame. They do it because they really love the sport and it's their passion.
Yeah if you do nothing at all you'll notice how your body stops growing and getting stronger automatically at around 20-25. It doesn't mean that you can't do anything about it. You'll just have to actually work to see some improvements after that.
