He's fucking with you, it could be herpes. If you're developing a sore it's going to be infectious until the outbreak dies down. If it is herpes you'll want to wear a glove until the sores start to heal, otherwise it will spread by contact. Hypothetically since it would be your first outbreak it would be very small.
