There was a time when the internet was a new and wondrous place to be.
>oh god your face

I remember when MegaTokyo was still a thing you could make fun of.
>>592021
That's the comic that inspired Ghastly's Ghastly Comic.
>>592026
The text on all these ancient webcomics is almost completely unreadable on modern computers. I'd completely forgotten what life was like at 800x600 resolution.

i miss this site, is it still doung anything? i found this and ghastlys ghastly comic about the same time, and cold pizza and beer

Imagine the homo-transo-whatever-phobia it 'd be accused of today.
Anyone up for a trip to the early '00's?

This strip confuses me to no end

Fred-chan used to go ballistic if anyone drew hentai of his characters. He once threatened he'd stop doing MegaTokyo if anyone drew hentai of it so Ghastly drew some MegaTokyo yaoi of Largo and Piro and said "Well I guess you have to stop doing your comic now".
There was also a time when /b/ dredged up from the depths of the internet all this loli porn Fred-chan had drawn before he did MegaTokyo, printed it up and kept going up to him at a convention asking him to sign it. Fred-chan blew a gasket over that and ranted "yeah, I'm glad you found my old loli hentai. I'm proud of my old loli hentai. I'm taking ownership of my old loli hentai. I never said I was against hentai."
There was a time, long long ago when MegaTokyo and Fed-chan's rants were a relevant thing webcomic artists would make fun of. Those days are long gone.

aaah, yeah, the fredobear thing.
>>592242
Didn't Hard end up walking that strip back on Tumblr?
>>592238

Speaking of old websites, it wasnt a comic but does anyone remember goastie?
not goatse, goaste
Most recent in the wayback machine is march 2010... holy shit. You guys, this stuff makes me so sad.
Their final post was "finalgoastethisistheendofgoastehello.html" google that, one result. Looks like someone saved some of the site.
I cant even look at it, old internet stuff is so cathartic :(

the fact that the 'guestbook' has comments like this "HOLAAAA, agreguenme a whatsapp 3007700195
snapchat: loaiza12" from 3 months ago makes me strangely happy.

OH
MY
GOD
I first read this at age 12 and never saw it again. It was one of my first porn experiences. I didn't even know what hentai was.
It's been over a decade since I've seen this. How can I thank you? This is a weird, authentic piece of my childhood.
>>592037
I played that when I was like 10 or something

That's Clay's site. He mostly does depression comix now.
http://www.depressioncomix.com/
He still sometimes updates sexy losers.
http://www.sexylosers.com/
Tomoyo's Room was really warped. The whole site felt like you were watching someone's mental breakdown unfold in front of your eyes.
Anyone remember Kung Fool? It was one of those early webcomics that was really good that completely disappeared from the internet.
Ghastly did a couple of updates last year but it seems like the site is gone completely now.
Anyone remember Tang? He had a comic called TV Vision or something with a robot girl and a girl named Phoenix?
>>594141
I heard he came out as a trans then an heroed.
>>594141
More like worked out he was at least mostly gay, left his wife, shacked up with a guy, broke up with the guy because he was too fucked in the head, unfucked his head some and got back with the guy, except living separately because his head is still somewhat fucked.
His Livejournal was pretty entertaining for a while.
>>592011
Man oh man remember when you could post on a message board and have actual discussion not just a bunch of adults posting memes because they have literally nothing of worth to say? Good fucking times.
>>593748
Yeah but unlike certain other webcomics, that was pretty much the point.
>>594465
Livejournal.... now there is a name I have not heard in a long time.
>>593754
Hyung Sun Kim was the author. He got writers block, killed it, switched to another comics, killed that, rebooted Kung Fool, got writers block again, and killed it, did some more comics, killed those, rebooted Kung Fool again and finally killed it again. Did a few other comics, some running for many pages, all ending basically the same way. He couldn't seem to finish anything.
He did an AMAZING mashup of Harry Potter/Kill Bill (HP characters, KB story), but that only made it like halfway before he lost interest. He must have done thousands of pages of comics over the several years he was active but he was never able to monetize it. It was before Kickstarter and Patreon so he had to earn cash only through ads. On top of that it was before Tumblr and such was a thing so he had to pay for his own web hosting even when the ads weren't covering the bills. With his disjointed and unfinished works and fairly regular website moves he just could never pull it off. Nestor was basically his web guy and he said HSK finally just lost interest dropped off the earth after 'Stick Pump' (short lived 'steam punk' parody using some of his Mystery at the Chateau characters) ran down. Haven't heard from him since.
Man, if he was still around he could probably earn a living doing comics these days. That is if he could actually finish a story.
>>592242
No, not very nostalgic about that shit.
Should I read Megatokyo?
>>596852
No.... no you should not. Unless you are more weeb than weeb.
>>594146
>an heroed
my god, we really have gone back in time.
In the future when we all have alzheimers they wont play our favourite records to restore our fractured minds, they'll show us comics like Sexy Losers and Oglaf.
>>592242
Only if it's the pre-9/11 part.
>>595471
Nestor here, Hyung told me to take down all the old work because it was "an embarrassment". He had some idea about making photo comics using gundam figures or something like that, but I wasn't interested.
Who knows, it may have been cool...
>>594146
Nah, Ghastly's doing fine, he's on Tumblr, and posts a lot of 3d stuff nowadays
>>598769
>>an embarrassment
That is really is too bad. I remember Hyung's written opinons about his own work and comics in general tending towards the histrionic, but I thought that he was a genuinely funny and I remember enjoying his comics a great deal.
>>598769
That sucks that Hyung took down all his old work. I don't understand how he could think it's an embarrassment. The guy was a fantastic artist and his writing and characters were both very interesting. If you talk to him please tell him to reconsider putting it back up. He doesn't even have to finish it.
Glad to hear Ghastly is still alive and doing fine. I wish he'd do more stuff too.
>>599965
I've got a backup but the sites are dead, I haven't talked to Hyung for a long time, though I think I saw him post on /co once
here's something /aco relevant from the old stash
>>592011
When?
