oh, and for some reason i can't make a new account. i tried various methods (without and without chrome / firefox add ons) but after i put in the log in information the site just reloads with the username still there, but the password gone.

You can however see your username and probably the registered email address, through which you can reset the password by requesting a password reset link to be sent to you. Do you use Firefox? Because if you do, you can just go to Settings->Security->Saved Logins and it will list every website you have saved your login for.
