In my case, it's because my preferred style is a perfect combination of the best aspects of the human body and the mechanical form. All the important parts are there along with a recognizable human face, with enough present on a physical level (e.g. articulated joints, metal for skin, no hair, etc.) as well as a mental one to make it clear that though they may not be exactly the same, the division between man and machine is still blurry enough for love and sex to occur between them naturally.
It's a matter of psychology as well as physical appearance.
