I just finished this and it was amazing, I am extremely glad I did not skip episodes 25 + 26 like all you hacks said too. End of Evangelion has to be 2x better then anything ever made before to make not watching 25-26 a good decision in any capacity.

If you want to experience Sadamoto's take on the series, read the manga (with the exception of the bonus chapter). It follows the anime closely, except for the finale, which is pretty retarded.
Then dive into the rebuild movies, but don't expect the greatness of TV+EoE.
