Ichiruki is A LOT more popular than narusaku. With narusaku and naruhina, it seemed like 50/50 in both the East and West, but with ichiruki/ichihime its like 95/5. A lot of IRs don't even like to admit that Ichigo and Orihime are friends-the massive outcry over ichihime becoming canon would be on a whole diffferent level. Probably the worst in shounen pairing history to be honest.

It means that he did not lose all his quincy powers and definitely not all his hollow powers. I remember a sense of awe and wonder as a young teenager starting this series. The still mysterious nature of the spiritual aspects and the contrast between them and the world. The dramatic increase in scope as the Soul Society was revealed. Waiting to see what a new character could do.
I even liked those quotes at the beginning of volumes and pondered over them. I was so invested in it's potential.
But it was all so shallow and lifeless. The definition of style over substance. It took the Hueco Mundo arc for younger me to see Kubo made up for an inability to write a compelling story with narrative twists, piles of new characters and drawn out, empty one on one battles in even blander settings. Characters just disappeared or became irrelevant in an instant. Ichigo and his friends were so utterly bland and uninteresting.

Specifically because they're successful yet had trash contracts, mangaka like Kishimoto and Kubo were especially exploited compared to their peers. Weekly chapter releases no doubt erode a man's soul and love for his own work. Kishimoto was even found in bars hiding from his responsibilities, they were so oppressive and his interest weakened so thoroughly. After a point, they just want it to end, but there's no way out.
Which isn't to say Naruto and Bleach aren't shit at the end of the day and plenty of their flaws doubtlessly arise from their creator's inability to plot coherently. Not everyone can be a genius like Oda (and I don't even like OP, Oda is just objectively he is better at planning a story). The panel to panel dialogue often isn't that impressive either, what with the obligatory powerwank boasting and spouting insane bullshit shounen philosophy every so often. But if their series was made even biweekly, the art would undoubtedly improve. If they had the luxury of pacing their stories how they wanted, they would care more and not just slap down whatever with only a dim general idea of where things were going. Don't you think?
Well, I seriously doubt most of Naruto's conceptual flaws would be fixed. From the get-go, Kishimoto's approach to powerlevelan is totally fucked. But Bleach showing at least a degree of potential in its early days and Kubo's early works being okay compared to later Bleach is relatively accepted. Bleach just got worse and worse and worse and more asspully and handwavey and "I could not care less" as it went on.
I doubt anything Kubo made would meet with Bleach's success, but I've little doubt that, if he started a work under more tenable conditions, it would be a better work than Bleach.
