It is a damned shame that this series deviates from the principles of the core Nasuverse works where it does, granted I guess it's actually closer to the garbage Type-Moon currently peddles in F/GO and Higashida's abortion of a light novel. You have no idea how frustrating it is to have watched the path TM has gone down this past decade, but I digress.
Seriously, this garbage is considered the Illya route? And not a one Illyafag is disappointed that so little thought went into it? That it's just a fucking soulless moe garbage yurishit factory that's metamorphosed to include vapid shounen combat. All just style and glam over substance. In those regards, I guess it succeeds remarkably and the real problem is me wanting it to be something it's not, but I say it shouldn't fucking exist as it does in the first place. The budget should have gone to something worth existing, something that could have made us proud of Illya.

So I never consumed anything fate (avoided the anime adaptations by ufotable because I wanted to read the VN first) and started watching illya thinking it would be like Persona is to SMT, same spells, some similar themes, but a spin off with no relations whatsoever

H-Scenes are unimportant for the first two, but you absolutely need them for HF as it alters the story for the worse if you don't. On top of that, it's the version with the H-scenes that's explicitly treated as canon rather than the SFW version for that route.
Don't use a guide. Just save at every choice. The Taiga Dojo will give you hints as to where you fucked up in case you do anyway. Plus they're really fun and you get a neat reward when you go back and get all of the bad ends after you finish the game.

General tip for getting the true end on the first go is to raise as much points with the main heroine as possible.
In HF however, Illya is almost as much of a heroine as Sakura, so make sure you don't ignore her either (like you could). If there's a case where you feel you can get points with her without sacrificing Sakuralike going shopping at the right time, do it.

Oh if you're going for 100% completion google Fate/Stay Night flowchart pdf. The first result is what you want. If you're doing a 100% completion run, the saving method I recommend is starting a different save file for each flag-dependent ending. So one for each epilogue, and others for the bad ends that require failing flag checks. There aren't actually that many of those. Heaven's Feel has the most, but it's still only like 2 or 3. Most bad ends are reached just by making a wrong choice and then immediately ending the game as a result.
