Been here weekly for the most part since ep 6. Synchro was a choppy ride since it felt like it was yanking my chain every ep, but overall I felt the end result was worth it and the climax was great. The only thing that REALLY soured me was XYZ arc's climax. That was some bullshit, and I'm still pissed about it. But, disregarding that, fusion's been pretty good so far, and I'm vaguely hopeful they'll keep the quality up since they have like 33 eps left.

It's not about carding being permanent. It's about the cast knowing it. Obviously carding wasn't going to be permanent but when it's the only form of death in the series you kill any tension the series could have had when you reveal the way to undo it 30+ episodes before the end. These threads used to have discussions about how people felt about their family and friends being killed because that is how carding was presented to them. Now the main cast knows it isn't death so they don't even need to react to it. Then you have the Xyz Dimension characters not even caring about it anymore. It's just poor writing all around.

Ok after watching the episode I can understand why people are so polarizing it goign 10/10 and 0/10. Dennis faces and speech and trying to trigger Kaito was awesome and also STEALS ALL YOUR MONSTERS was pretty cool.

Even if Kaito hadnt finished him off that turn with 10k ATK, Bennis would have to turn the duel around with a 1 card topdeck.
I dont even see where he had the confidence of beating Kaito from, especially considering that he knew Kaitos cards. There were billions of ways for Kaito to BTFO Dennis even without the rankup considering how he started his last turn with 3 hand cards while Dennis was at 0 hand cards.

To expand on this a bit, it's not just that he can't return to either side. Rather, it's also that he can't deny either side.
He is a fully realized entertainer that believes in the ENTAME. But on the other hand, he is also a high-ranking member of Academia that directly gave the go-ahead to cause mass death and destruction. Both sides are true. Both are a part of who he is. He managed to captivate the crowd in this episode, but he also lost the duel, to the Resistance member. He cannot run away or claim the high road from what he caused.
Oh, and as for why it makes sense for this duel to not be against Shun, we already had that. If we had it again, it would just once again devolve into RAGE and YOU TOOK AWAY RURI.
