Yes. Apparently the story is shaping up to be better.

Tales games are largely disconnected from one another. The only connected ones are:
>Symphonia (prequel) -> Symphonia 2 (Sequel set a few years later) -> Phantasia (sequel set at least a thousand years later)
>Xillia -> Xillia 2 (sequel set a few years later)
Zestiria will have a prequel (Berseria), but that isn't out yet is and set hundred of years prior, so how exactly it's connected is not know.
