Yes, I understand the point of the genre. MC has 'insider information.'
But for fuck's sake at least not have the other world be a 1:1 copy of JRPGs. It's far better when there is something unexpected that the MC has to adapt to.
A good example of this was Oda Nobuna. MC is a big fan of Sengoku Jidai games, so uses that knowledge to alter history. BUT because of this, his information gets less and less useful since he's altering the timeline and he can no longer predict shit with good accuracy. So the result is the MC has to grow and rely on his own skills, not just cheats.
Why can't more LN's do this? It's such a fucking basic character arc.

not necessarily. i dont think you could cut a bullet in hald with a sword, because bullets dont just move in a straight line- they spin to keep their flight stable. Assuming you could, though, the aerodynamics of a bullet sliced in half lengthwise are way different from those of a whole bullet, and the flight path of the two bullet halves would be super erratic. Of course, if the bullet was moving fast enough, that might not change the bullets path enough to miss you entirely- but it almost certainly wouldnt hit wherever the gunman was aiming

I think they're cute, but at the same time kind of pathetic. Unless there are multiple ways to say "I love you" in Japanese, because to westerners there are different levels of love. Maybe it's just how translators interpret what is said.
Actually saying "I love you" is pretty intense and I think that's a pretty cringey to say to someone you've barely spoken to outside of generic pleasantries. If they mean something like "I really like you and I want to date you" then it's more understandable. I don't know if there's a distinction between those two feelings in Japanese though.
