Part 5, 6 and 8.

4, 5 and 6 were great, although some feel that 6 was trying a bit hard with them near the end. 7 is back to basics until you get to Civil War. Most of them don't have physical forms and are just powers the characers have which defeats the purpose of them being 'Stands', but they're decent nonetheless. I actually think 8 has the best balance between super weird and not bullshit. Stuff like Vitamin C and Born This Way rank among some of my favourites. Plus Part 8 has probably the best overall Stand design from any Part so far.

I think that most of the stands in part 7 were things that helped their user fight rather than things that fought for their user.
Honestly I prefer that model on the whole, though some of my favorite stands (Stone Free, Sticky Fingers) do both to an extent.

I agree but it just feels like a copout and removes the thing that makes Stands unique in the first place. At least give Scary Monsters some sort of physical appearance like the one Mandom had for all of 1 panel. I still like them but it feels a bit lazy imo.

Alright. I'm new and I posted a couple threads back about finishing part 3 anime. I am now caught up with part 4 and I want to start reading. Where should I read and start?
Also, I picked up Eye's of Heaven. The online is non-existent. Though I am having fun with the game even if I only know half the cast. The people from part 7 and 8 look really odd compared to the rest of the cast, I hope they are still good.

Beyond that, most of the stand battles are of the desperate slugfest type where everyone gets wounded to shit and it's just straight up fighting, 3 had lots of good puzzle stand battles like Boingo and Darby to enforce some variety.

And Parts 7 and 8 are probably the best in the series, they're also unrelated to 1-6 entirely since 7 started off as it's own original series separate from JJBA but people were confused because Araki decided to reuse Stands and even character names for some reason. Part 2 had great characters, great fights, and great pacing.
Part 3 has loads of good fights and better characters. Even the worst fucking battles in 3 are a billion times better than Yo-Yo-Ma.
Pucci is my favorite villain of the series but he's wasted on the shittiest part.

Mista, Abbacchio and Buccelati alone are much better in terms of action and writing than the part 3 cast. Diavolo worked MUCH better as a villain than DIO did who literally just had a generic "Rule the warudo" plot with nothing else to it.
The Stand battles are some of the most tense and fun battles to watch in legitimately the whole series, the minor villain stands are fucking deadly and all the minor villains in part 5 weren't just random mooks that were hired like in part 3, they genuinely felt like they were out for the blood of the part 5 cast.
Fucking Grateful Dead and Beach Boy alone beats pretty much all the fights in SDC aside from the last 3 in the Egypt arc.

Joseph is literally only good for being a le ebin ruse man, Caesar is the worst brojo in the entire series and had a completely forced death. The fights weren't great, they were literally just asspulls, one after the other barring the Wham fight which was genuinely good.
It's the worst written part in the series.

He's literally the most generic villain in the series, he's just a "I want to rule the world whilst sitting back and monologuing for 3/4 of the part" villain, where at least Diavolo wasn't your standard villain, and whenever he actually showed up you knew some good shit was going to go down. He had a presence, DIO just has memes. Even part 1 Dio was a much better villain than him.

I agree completely with you, I actually forgot about Wheel of Fortune and Empress funnily enough.
I actually enjoyed Yo-Yo-Ma, Anasui's antics in it were great and I found the stand to be endearing. Also we got Foo at the end taking on Pucci which instantly redeemed it for me, the only shit part about Yo-Yo-Ma was that it ran for too long. It's nowhere near as bad as some of the shittiest fights in part 3.
Can we all agree Yo Yo Ma is the best stand and fight in the known universe? I mean, I would suck Yo Yo Ma's acidic chode he's that good.

Everyone rates the villains with their own different criterias. I rank DIO higher than Diavolo because DIO is this motherfucking vampire who comes back from a previous part, and not only did he wait 100 years under the sea, he took his rivals body as his own. Diavolo is just some paranoid schizo who wants to be left alone. Then there are the final fights, DIO's World is the most iconic fight in the entire series, where Diavolo's final fight is very underwhelming, he is chasing the arrow, then Giorno gets it, then he gets punched and wow it's over.
Part of the reason I rank 5 so low is because I had trouble reading most of it due to the shitty translations. There's no doubt tho that when it comes to minor Stands fights Part 5 is better than Part 3.
Hopefully my opinion of this part changes next year when it gets animated.

I have all the Italian volumes and honestly Diavolo's characterization is much better, mostly because he strictly aligns to the themes of part 5. The final battle is the most thematic confrontation in the series, and it's the peak of Giorno's development as a character. With shitty translations it really does just come across as boring, but it was fucking great when I read it.

From my experience living in Japan and my limited experience with the Japanese fanbase, they like 1 for being classic, were meh on 2 until the anime brought in heaps of bandwagoners like it did here and love 3 for nostalgia. 4 and 5 also get nostalgia from slightly younger people but not to the level that Part 3 fans do. Most of the stuff focusing on 3 like EoH is just blatant nostalgia pandering to people who don't even read the series anymore.

*8 isn't well documented since it's still ongoing but it gets a lot of love from most places. I haven't been on 2ch in ages and don't intend to go back so I'm not a credible source, but someone there told me that on 2ch they actually hate Part 8 and think it's a trainwreck. I do feel like fbm is an early design for someone (not Jobin though, we can see shadow Jobin in his current design in the very next chapter lurking in the background). It just feels odd that it literally hasn't had any relevance to anything or be mentioned at all ever since in 5 years. And I'm hesitant to consider it dropped since it's so obvious that Araki has planned most of JJL beforehand and that if he was confident enough to include it in the first place then he wouldn't drop it. Who knows though. I don't really bother speculating on it since it's such an enigma with nothing concrete to it yet. I'll be disappointed if it's forgotten but it's not really a deal breaker for me since we haven't had it even mentioned in 5 years. It's speed depends on the victim it's chasing, that's how it managed to catch up to the jet plane, but then become slow as fuck once it tried to catch Trish. Therefore, it's speed is "infinite". The music, sound design, VAs, pacing and visuals (usage of colors in P1/P2 was far better than the rest of the anime as well) and just about everything else about it was perfectly done, even the terrible Cars final fight was made amazing for P2 in the anime.
