So it's a Union.
In a fantasy setting like this, it would be more economical for there to simply be a bulletin board around town with contact information.
The Guild is merely an escrow service that acts as a third party to determine contract completion between both parties.
So why make the system so complicated? Obviously, because there's more to it than that. Trade unions form a body of manpower that can be acted upon in times of emergencies (strikes, large contracts), and also formalize training and certification (apprenticeship, journeymans, etc.)
If a Guild is not a really shittily organized trade union, then what the fuck is it?

And in the first place, I am not advocating that fantasies should have billboards and escrow services.
If you actually bother to read the post, it goes into detail explaining that a Guild is more than just an escrow service, and it matches the modern description of a Trade Union, albeit a more shittily organized one.
It goes on to imply that Trade Unions have all power to employ (or not employ) their licensed contractors. Which is what this, and the previous thread, is about.

It makes no sense to pump and dump Elvish currency.
Honestly Goblin killing is nothing great really, the warrior and others probably would have been able to take care of normal goblins,
the hobgoblin and the shaman were the problem.

The point is there was not enough information and the whatever metal quest was actually of a higher rank.

The dragon was in a foreign country and the JSDF couldn't mobilize a large scale offensive without violating treaties.
That being said, MC gave a bunch of Dark Elves rocket launchers but they had maybe 5 minutes of training with them. So once the dragon showed up they all either panicked, one killed his friend with backblast, and the rest were eaten before dragon loli showed up. MC did manage to get some C4 into Blue's mouth though so they did kill it.

You can achieve the same result at a bar or public notice board in the city.
An adventure strong enough to do what the client was unable to do and thusly had to request is probably stronger than the motherfucking trying to not pay what he owes.
If the guild isn't providing some sort of additional services then there really isn't much of a reason for them to exist.

Bullshit, that's exactly how they got rid of Hardy's Apostle and her two dragons, choppers came in.
>>143894904
Probably because it's considered a fundamental right of adventurers to take dangerous missions possibly beyond their own abilities.

It's not like the guild didn't warn them, it's more that they didn't explicitly bar them. It's a matter of where the duty of the law to allow adventurers the freedom to engage their targets as they please stops and where the duty of the law to prevent meaningless deaths begins.
Personally I think if they were fighting archwraiths or something, the guild would prohibit them from taking the quest because that's fucking insane you have 0 chance. The goblins weren't guaranteed death to them, it was just risky odds.

>>143895744
Do nobles even have standing armies, and are they even useful against goblins?
Remember that standing armies are post-medieval for the most part, it requires professionalism.
Also remember that adventurers are closer to assassins in nature than soldiers, they're basically small groups of fighters that can accomplish what large armies can't (special missions, basically - they can rescue the princess but they can't siege the castle she's in).

Generally the fact that the Adventurers' Guild exists and is such a huge organization means either the standing army is either shit for whatever reason or too busy (better pay as an adventurer, bureaucracy means troops get there way too fucking late, off in a war etc) or the guild is actually under the control or heavily funded by the government.

Look at what GS was able to accomplish by himself and with a lvl 1 priest. Imagine if he was able to apprentice all of them. Fighter would have brought a shorter sword, everyone would have chainmail, and they would have learned how to spot hidden caves and traps.

4 porcelain vs goblins in a cave was considered an auto fail without an experienced adventurer by the guild clerk.
It's obvious in universe that the goblin commission was out of their league according to the common sense of that worl. Then that same paper trail shows the cleric required to keep them alive had signed up for the first time during that same day.
Then it turns out during investigations that there's a (well known to veterans) ambush point easily missed by rookies like porcelain rank adventurers which would make requiring at least one veteran (like the quest lady suggested) reasonable.
The paper trail will actually be more damning to the guild than what we know since it won't include the failures of the fighter in it.
This was not at any point a commission that group should have had to begin with.

All over the fucking place. Have you ever even taken an economics class? The Ford Pinto is basically THE example of modern business putting a price tag on human life. I can remember taking 4 separate classes at various times in my life that addressed it. The DDT controversy, is likewise common fucking knowledge.
>Although Ford had access to a new design which would decrease the possibility of the Ford Pinto from exploding, the company chose not to implement the design, which would have cost $11 per car, even though it had done an analysis showing that the new design would result in 180 less deaths. The company defended itself on the grounds that it used the accepted risk/benefit analysis to determine if the monetary costs of making the change were greater than the societal benefit. Based on the numbers Ford used, the cost would have been $137 million versus the $49.5 million price tag put on the deaths, injuries, and car damages, and thus Ford felt justified not implementing the design change.

Well of course, I'm in favor of that as well, but the idea is that unless such a rule is already in place the guild would literally not be legally able to stop them even if they were marching to their deaths and everyone knew it.
Like since we have a ranking system already it's pretty obvious they roughly know what matches up with what. A dread wraith can't be beat by obsidians no matter how many you toss at it, archlichs are going to knock down sapphires like bowling pins.

>You know that Ford's fatality rate is no different from anyone.
Marginally no different and not different are not the same thing.
At the time car companies didn't quiet have a grasp on how dangerous rear capped gas tanks were. Ford figured it out first, because for some reason or another the Pinto was a bit more likely to expload then other cars. They did nothing.
When the media blew up over exploding Pintos everyone stopped selling cars with that style of gas tank.
The problem wasn't that their cars were extremely dangerous, they were only a little more dangerous, and then only during rear end collisions. The problem was that they sat down and decided how much money a person's life was worth and said, 'We don't care that these people die as long as it doesn't cost us any money.'
Since it would be more expensive to change their car design then to pay any future consequences related to the deaths of their customers. There is no evidence that any other manufacturer knew that those kinds of fuel tanks were any more dangerous.

You keep using these words without understanding that you're wrong. The guild has to pay the veteran adventurer anyway because the noobs were going to die to begin with so the veteran adventurer STILL has to do the commission.
>More adventurers mean there is more options, less problems which mean decreasing bounty and less money for the guild
>It is in their incentives to make the noobs die. A dead noob is profitable noob. The high end jobs get pay well because it is hard. The last thing you want is to flush silver pool with thousand and decreasing bounty
Losing out on sources of profit is not an incentive. it's being retarded. The bounty itself won't decrease because it's still a job requiring skills the client doesn't have. The amount of the bounty that the guild can get away with paying the adventurer is what decreases.
Let's play along with the larger silver group theory you have though.
You now have a larger amount of services to sell but the bounty price is lower. If the bounty drop does not exceed the increase of profits you get from swimming in silver+ ranks (when you controll the commission in the first place and hold a monopoly allowing you to prevent any massive price deflation) then you are still profiting even if it's slightly less from each adventurer.

No no no, stop trying to delve too deep and make them sound different. Both caused people to die with exactly one degree of cause separation, and both caused them to die not because they did something to make them die but because they failed to do something to save them.
Ford failed to improve their safety, which lead to cars exploding and shit, which lead to death.
The Guild failed to completely bar the idiots from doing the quest, which lead to them taking a quest beyond their means, which lead to death.
And the fact that the guild has been doing this for quite some time immediately invalidates your ideas about the king or the laws. It hasn't happened so it's either legal, they've gotten around the law, or nobody cares because it's both legal and acceptable in their common sense.

No, because you can spend people's lives. If we do X it will cause Y amount of people to die but will result in the success of Z. If the numbers look good you spend those lives. Z might be worth more then the value that person would have contributed.
Let's assume that the setting has a vast surplus of labor to the point that plenty of people want to take the risk to become an adventurer for lack of other good work.
Let's also assume that taxes are collected on property and/or wages. If there are a large amount of unemployed people who aren't contributing much to the prosperity of the state, then you can spend their lives to accomplish things at a much lower cost.

Veterans mentor on their own dime. Goblin slayer isn't getting payed and the Priest bought her own equipment with her own money so there is literallly 0 financial obligation on behalf of the guild.
Bounties don't decrease when you have more hunters. It just means that more people will be competing for bounties and it will become a first-come-first-serve basis like it already is.
Noobies dying doesn't benefit anyone at all. It actively hurts the guild because they lose promising talents and manpower in the event of a larger problem.

>The now living adventurers would eventually have to buy a better , more expensive sword and pay the smith anyway.
Why wait years for them to buy a new one when you can get another noobs to buy a new one?
>The guild has to pay the veteran adventurer anyway because the noobs were going to die to begin with so the veteran adventurer STILL has to do the commission.
The guild has to pay a Veteran to go through a middle tier job holding hands. GS case is an exception. Take for example a Steel dungeon. It is too hard for the Porcelain noobs and they need coach. You actually need a Ruby or higher to coach the noobs. They would lose out because it is less than what they can do. They can't take noobs to dungeon with their own levels because they would have to look after themselves in those dungeons
>Let's play along with the larger silver group theory you have though.
The ranking system is a relative system. The pay for Porcelain jobs are low exactly because too many people can do it. If an average fighter can kill a dragon, it would decrease the bounty for killing dragon. The Silver can't charge a million ducats because there are another 100 Silver do it for less. This is exactly what is happening in IT. The faggots that hire IT don't have any IT skills, but they can't charge more because there are millions of Indians that charge less

The vehicle example is fucking stupid anyway since it acknowledges/implies that there is a breaking point between the expenses for fixing the problem and the expenses resulting from death/danger while failing to acknowledge that the guild problem is on a much worse scale and as such clearly higher on the front of theoretical loss of profits and increased expenses due to death.
The church should be almost ready to flip the fuck out at having to house so many invalids and orphans.
Even if the guild itself doesn't immediately lose profit in the short term there should be multiple economic and political powers (Church, mages guild that finds out their prodigy was allowed to shove off against something she wasn't ready for,any childhood friend of these people that makes it to a position of power, just about anywhere that trains these people, any government official that notices the massive hemorrhaging of potential talent) that wasted resources on the new dead or catatonic adventurers that should be rightfully angry at the mishandling of resources.
It's astonishing that the guild hasn't been burned to the ground for this level of incompetence.

If leveling was that slow then only elves could get high levels. The newbies still have to pay for equipment repair and maintenance. Even if they somehow don't levlel they will have to buy a new sword eventually that they wouldn't have bought thanks to being dead.
You have an extremely short sighted business sense.

You are really trying hard to justify a person you'd have to pay for anyway that is giving free job training simply via existing which will net you long term profits as an additional expense. If they are too weak at porcelain to assist an adventurer veteran of any higher rank in a group then they should not be in that group in the first place. Except that more high rank doesn't mean more profit, it actually decrease it. You can see it easily in the modern world.
Second, you are saying that the Veteran can do their job perfectly fine with the noob along with them. This is not the case. They have to spend time do work below them to coach the noob. This is will decrease revenue for both guilds and veteran. Also you are saying that veteran will happily take on noobs without asking for payment. Has there been any point in history that training in any profession is free? People has to paid to be coached in CS and MOBA. Don't expect soldiers to coach newbies without a fat check

the warrior (guy with the sword) was male, that's why they didn't rape him.

You are overestimating how much of a veteran they have to be. The veteran just has to be strong enough to win with the weaker group. If the veteran is too strong to need the noob group and chooses to they can just take the comission solo and leave the noob group as still alive to get experience some other day.
This is not mandatory training. This is incidental training from not being sent into certain death situations.
The only mandatory part proposed is that the noobs can't take a request they're too weak for unless adventurers strong enough to clear with them show and are willing to cooperate.

More like how the fighter and mage were fucking imbeciles, she was the only one capable in the damn party.
>>143900748
Goblin Slayer is the lead protagonist, Priestess is the viewpoint character. They're not always the same thing.
>>143900740
Now can someone upload this somewhere?
>>143900090
>Goblin Slayer said that an antidote wouldn't save her.
you know, if goblin poisons are that deadly, then for fucking sure they are deadly high rank monsters, not trash mob.
This manga is really fucked up with its setting.
Why we are scare of snakes and spiders? Because they are venom.
>>143900697
>Priest lv1 wearing chainmail
>>143900788
>implying they were rich enough
Anyway I don't think any of them besides the fighter had heavy armor proficiency and the Monk probably values mobility over actual hardcore armor.

Read the LN a couple of weeks ago, it was ok.
>>143900835
It sounds more like she was already halfway dead than the antidote wouldn't work period.
If she took the antidote right when she got poisoned it might've worked.
>>143900720
I got money on the MC being born as a half-goblin/human breed
>>143900788
Isn't chain mail a disadvantage against arrows since the arrowheads can lodge between individual chain links, making them hard to pull out?

But where
And yes I googled it

Where's his mom?
>>143900814
Yeah people don't really know this but this was popularized in the victorian era where the protagonist would be some guy that the person knew. This is how all the Sherlock Holmes stories are written, from the perspective of Watson because its like you're hearing the story second hand and makes the protagonist more mysterious.
>>143900886
The real reason he killed her is that the goblin dick had impregnated her so he was slaying the goblin within her womb.

it's not like she has anything in the way of offensive or time-sensitive spells, she can handle the cast speed debuff that chainmail should give to a mage
>>143900914
not "regular" arrowheads
bodkins, sure, but goblins aren't going to be using metal arrowheads at all, let alone specialty heads
>>143900914
>since the arrowheads can lodge between individual chain links
Better than them lodging halfway into your guts.
>>143898429
Really, what kind of asshole calls himself Goblin Slayer? Just use your birth name, you twat, and let the goblin slaying be implied by all your actions.
>>143900982
I think everyone is being referred to by class like in Maoyuu.
Goblin Slayer is probably some prestige title.
>>143900285
in time of crisis? Its your life in danger, who the fuck would going there optimistically think "everything will be fine, I have fullbody armor".
Not to mention goblin slaying is his job, so he should encounter poisoned people fairy often, and you are saying that he should just leave them to die because its not his business?
>>143900982
He is the Goblin Slayer not because he slays goblins but because he decided that his name would be Goblin Slayer.

Thats why he allows the Cleric to come along, he's sick of happening upon failing and dying adventurers and doesn't have the money for health potions because he only slays goblins.

Yes. She gets scolded by her priest teacher for going full melee gear as a priestess, of which the MC mocks her teacher as someone never fought in a real battle.

>>143901054
the arrow stuck in the priest's shoulder because she was wearing nothing but a thin cloth robe
that's what regular arrowheads do, by the way - they get tuck in flesh and deal most of their damage when the shaft moves around, either from activity or attempted removal, etc

If she was trained in a church. and Churches are where people who suffer from Goblin rapes are sent. Wouldn't she know about goblins and their activities in the first place? At least she would know that a lot of people get sent to the convent with their minds broken.

That's presumably why she was told to get a veteran adventurer.
But yes, the worldbuilding and reasoning is filled to the brim with logic holes like this as this is clearly basic, never fought goblins in a cave before knowledge that should have been forced upon the presistess.
>>143901555
What does it say? That seems like far too little space for any real information and doesn't include the giant red flag to retreat as there is a wizard goblin that the skull flag apparently represents.
Plus room for local tactics like mentioning that ambush spot which apparently claims victims constantly.

So possibly even shittier than i thought? A hobgoblin portion is probably vital too since if she knew about those she'd have known to immediately carry the remaining party members on her shoulders like potato sacks as she sprints away at top speed before it got a hold of her.
Or alternatively they'd know to temp blind to open room for retreating.

New thread?
>90 IPs for a 2-chapter manga
I like how the manga illustrates how fucking garbage Monks are until they are higher level, its probably not intentional but thats the truth in all DnD editions, monks are only powerful at higher levels when they get more stats/skills and are usually hot garbage low to mid level.
The monk girl had a shot to kill some gobs and she got wrecked.
Also for the people talking about the poison, I'm pretty sure Goblin Slayer said that antidote would be useless since the mage was already at the brink of death, we don't know what he does when he finds someone who has been recently poisoned, he probably has his own antidote in case he gets poisoned but what would be the point of wasting it in a corpse? Better to just tell the priestess that her friend was fucked, end her misery and move on.
>>143902540
Pandering begins here?
>>143902559
>The monk girl had a shot to kill some gobs and she got wrecked.
She actually got rid of the most, the Fighter came kinda close but >5 INT / 3 WIS while Mage got literally one (1) kill.
>>143902559
The only reason the Monk got fucked was because she got Hobgoblin'd. They were already underlevelled, Hobgoblins was probably a full two or three above them and she was alone at that point because priestess was frozen solid.
